Details

Choose between a shared group tour or a private guided experience on this day trip from Bangkok to two of Thailand’s best-known markets: the Maeklong Railway Market and the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market.

After pickup in Bangkok, travel to the Maeklong Railway Market, also known as Talad Rom Hup, or the “Umbrella Pulldown Market.” Recognized as one of Thailand’s largest fresh seafood markets, it is set directly along the tracks of the Maeklong Railway. With your local guide, learn how the market operates and discover the range of goods sold here, from seafood to fresh produce. Witness the remarkable moment when vendors quickly retract awnings and move goods aside as the train passes through the market.

Continue to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, one of the country’s most famous canal markets. A short paddleboat ride takes you into the heart of this lively trading hub. Stroll along the waterways at your own pace, observing vendors selling fruit, snacks, and local dishes directly from their boats. Sample Thai favorites such as mango sticky rice and enjoy the colorful atmosphere while your guide shares tips on what to see and taste.

After exploring both markets, relax on the return journey to Bangkok, arriving back in the early afternoon.

It was perfect. Mr Aekaphol made super good explanations with some funny comments. The transportation is super good and convenient, you only have to worry to respect the meeting points that he will give during the activity and that’s it. Great experience and highly recommended!

Such a fun morning typically chaotic with train crowds and boats bumping and bobbing up the canals with vendors shouting their wares, but organised perfectly down to the minute. Tanya our guide was very well organised and kept things moving. Highly recommend.

Fantastic day trip to the railway and floating markets. It was very well organized, from the pick up to the drop off. Transportation was comfortable, the activities were perfectly timed and we really got to enjoy them. Patty, our guide, was very friendly and made sure everything went smoothly. Great value for money. Highly recommend this tour.

Patty was an amazing tour guide! She was warm, welcoming, and incredibly informative throughout the entire experience. She truly had our group’s best interests at heart and made sure everything ran smoothly. I especially enjoyed visiting the Umbrella Market to see the train pass through and exploring the floating water market — both were such unique and memorable experiences. We ended the excursion with a delicious meal, and transportation to and from the tour was safe and comfortable. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and highly recommend Patty’s tour. Thank you for such a fantastic day!

My wife and I had a wonderful experience. We rode the train into the market and then watched it depart right next to the tracks. It was a cool experience. Then we went to the floating market and rode the boats and had about an hour to eat and shop. I definitely recommend doing a tour vs doing it yourself. It was much easier and the guide led us at each stop. Would highly recommend. A++++

I love everything about the tour, tour guide & drivers were on time and informative. Billie was the tour guide from big country tours and she was amazing, I highly recommended them and will book again with them when I return to Thailand.

A very interesting tour! We especially enjoyed the floating market and the railway market is quite the experience! You really need to see it in person to truly appreciate just how close you are to the train. Our guide was so pleasant and friendly - overall a great tour!

The tour was great, we just didn't understand why we didn't have time to explore the train market. This is because we insisted to the guide that we took the tour to see the train go by, not to actually get on it. But really, we didn't have time to walk around the stalls. The floating market is worthwhile if you like to bargain.
