We arrived around 12.30 pm at the bistro and were asked if we preferred to eat before or after visiting the spa, we decided after although the time was flexible come back to eat. We were then provided with wristbands which scanned you into the spa and which you could use to lock any of the lockers in the changing room. You can use any of the pools in the wellness part, there are plenty of indoor ones but we went straight to the NMG-5QXL-82PO-7N7S where there are sunbeds, a bar and pool. We stayed until approximately 4 pm got changed back to our clothes and headed to the restaurant. The food was lovely, 3 courses, choice of each given. You get a glass of lemonade and a glass of wine. Overall a great experience. Take your own towel and flip flops or the like and if you prefer to eat whilst still enjoying the spa, a light dressing gown or beach cover type thing to wear in the restaurant. If you arrive without a towel and whatnot you might get caught out and have to pay to buy or hire. I look at it as going to the swimming baths here, you would turn up with what you need, dont expect things to be provided. The drinks prices at the pool bar were very reasonable and card only accepted

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the top cities to visit in Hungary, and what tours are available in each?

Budapest is by far the most popular destination, offering everything from Danube river cruises and thermal bath experiences to food tours and walking tours of historic districts. Beyond the capital, Szentendre is a charming riverside artists' town perfect for a half-day trip, while Eger is known for its wine cellars, castle, and baroque architecture. Pécs in the south offers Ottoman-era heritage and a relaxed Mediterranean feel. Lake Balaton — Hungary's inland sea — draws visitors for wine tours and summer relaxation. Most day trips from Budapest to these destinations include private transport and a local guide, making it easy to explore multiple cities even on a short visit.

What is the best time of year to visit Hungary for tours and sightseeing?

Hungary rewards visitors in every season, but spring (April–June) and early autumn (September–October) offer the most comfortable conditions for touring — pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and ideal weather for walking tours, cycling, and wine country excursions. Summer (July–August) is the busiest period with the longest daylight hours, perfect for river cruises and Lake Balaton day trips, though popular experiences book up fast. Winter (December–February) brings Budapest's famous Christmas markets, atmospheric evening cruises along the illuminated Danube, and the best time to enjoy Hungary's thermal baths. Wine tours in Tokaj and Eger are particularly rewarding during the autumn harvest season.

Can I join tours in Hungary as a solo traveler, and is it safe?

Absolutely — solo travelers are welcome on virtually all group tours, and Hungary is considered one of the safer countries in Central Europe for visitors. Group walking tours, river cruises, and food tours are a natural way to meet fellow travelers. Budapest in particular has a well-developed tourism infrastructure with English widely spoken in tourist areas. Standard travel precautions apply: watch your belongings in crowded spots, use licensed transport, and stick to well-lit areas at night. Tour operators follow EU safety standards, and Alle Travel listings include detailed information on each experience so you can choose what suits your comfort level.

Are there family-friendly tours in Hungary, and what ages are welcome?

Hungary has plenty of options for families. In Budapest, daytime sightseeing cruises, bike tours along the Danube, and interactive museums like the Selfie Museum are popular with kids. Many cruises let children under 3 or 4 ride free, and walking tours at a relaxed pace work well for older children. Thermal bath visits are family-friendly during daytime hours, though some spa experiences (like beer spas) are adults-only. Day trips to Szentendre or Lake Balaton give families a chance to explore beyond the city. Each tour page lists age policies and suitability notes, so check before booking to make sure the activity matches your family's needs.

What should I know before booking a tour in Hungary for the first time?

A few practical tips make a big difference. Hungarian Forint (HUF) is the local currency — cards are widely accepted in Budapest but some experiences (flea markets, smaller venues) require cash in smaller denominations. Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory; a few euros or a thousand Forint is a kind gesture for guides. Most tours operate in English, with many also offering German and other languages via audio guides. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for any city tour, and layering clothing helps since weather can shift quickly, especially near the river. Book popular experiences (dinner cruises, thermal baths, private tours) several days ahead, particularly on weekends and during peak season.

What unique experiences make Hungary different from other Central European destinations?

Hungary stands out for a few things you won't easily find elsewhere in the region. Budapest's thermal bath culture is unmatched — the city has more than 120 natural hot springs, and experiences range from historic Ottoman-era baths to novelty beer spas. The Hungarian wine scene is underrated, with Tokaj producing world-class sweet wines and regions like Eger and Villány offering excellent reds at a fraction of Western European prices. The Danube cruise scene in Budapest is among the most varied in Europe, with options from casual prosecco party boats to elegant candlelit dinner cruises. And Hungary's culinary heritage — goulash, lángos, chimney cake, pálinka — gives food tours a depth that's hard to match in neighboring capitals.
