Bodrogkeresztúr has become an important destination for visitors who come to pray at the grave of a revered rabbi in hopes of spiritual guidance. The village attracts thousands of Hassidic Jews each year, as it was home to Rabbi Yeshayah Steiner, founder of the Kerestir Hassidic dynasty.

Known as Rebbe Shaya’la, Rabbi Steiner lived in Bodrogkeresztúr in the early 20th century. The local Jewish community strongly believed in his wisdom, and he became widely known as a miracle worker. Until his passing in 1925, many Central European Hasidic Jews visited him regularly, and accounts of his attributed miracles—from healing illnesses to resolving family difficulties—fill several volumes.

Jewish Cemetery, Bodrogkeresztúr
Located on Dereszla Hill, the 18th-century cemetery contains the grave of Reb Saye Steiner. The site remains a central stop for those honoring his memory and legacy.
