From Budapest: Danube Bend Day Trip in English

Travel along the Danube Bend and visit Visegrád, Esztergom, and Szentendre while exploring the architecture and history of each destination with your guide. Stroll through medieval narrow streets and take in views of the river and surrounding hills.

In Visegrád, walk beside the 750-year-old stones of the former Royal Residence (entry not included). Learn about everyday life in the Middle Ages and enjoy the broad panorama of the Danube valley.

Continue to Esztergom, known as the northern gate of Budapest and home to the center of Hungary’s Catholic Church. Visit the country’s largest cathedral, which holds the tombs of notable cardinals such as Primate József Mindszenty, then pause to admire the view across the river toward Slovakia.

On the return journey, stop in the artists’ village of Szentendre, a small baroque town at the entrance to the Danube Bend where the river meets the Pilis Mountains. Walk through the baroque quarter built on medieval foundations, follow the narrow lanes to a viewpoint over the Danube, and take in the distinctive atmosphere before concluding the tour.
