Details

According to legend, Selge was founded after the Trojan War by the soothsayer Kalchas and Greek settlers, while another story attributes its origins to the Spartans.

The city was established in a mountain location that was difficult to access, yet the surrounding land was fertile and suitable for agriculture.

The local population focused on gardening and trade. Coins dating back to the 5th century BC have been found in the area, showing the importance of commerce.

Residents sold olives, fruits, wild berries, mountain herbs, and olive oil, helping Selge become a prosperous and well-protected city.

In the Manavgat district of Antalya, the nearby Adam Kayalar rock formations resemble standing human figures.
Due to their unusual and fantastical appearance, locals often refer to the area as “Avatar Land”.
