Details

Enjoy a tour of Stockholm by land and water aboard an amphibious bus. Learn about the city’s history from multiple perspectives, with views of notable landmarks such as Gröna Lund, the Royal Palace, and the Royal Island of Djurgården.

Once everyone is aboard, head toward the Royal Theatre. Your guide gives a short introduction about the vehicle before shifting focus to the sights. Drive along the fashionable street of Birger Jarl, then arrive at the nightlife hub of Stureplan. Continue to the Royal Library, see the 1912 Olympic stadium, and turn onto Karlavägen to reach the beautiful district of Östermalm.

Suddenly, the tarmac turns to gravel—and the real fun begins. It is time for the bus to get wet. Hold onto your phones and cameras, and prepare for a few butterflies. The music gets louder, a splash of water hits the windshield, and before you know it, you are floating.

After a few minutes on the water, hear the story behind Djurgården. Pass the Vasa Museum and Sweden’s oldest amusement park, Gröna Lund. Have your camera ready for a postcard-like view of Stockholm. The striking Old Town facades lie ahead, with buildings dating back to the 16th century. In the middle stand the German Church and Stockholm City Hall, a famous symbol of the city with three golden crowns mounted on top.

Sail alongside the shore of Södermalm, the largest of Stockholm’s 14 islands. Cruise around Skeppsholmen for a great view of the Royal Palace, one of the largest palaces in Europe. See the 19th-century ship Af Chapman, once part of Stockholm’s naval station.

Learn about the royal family and how Sweden became the country it is today—how one of Europe’s poorest nations grew into a thriving industrial hub, with a capital now considered Europe’s answer to Silicon Valley. Feel the current from Sweden’s third-largest lake pushing fresh water into the Baltic Sea.

Ahead, enjoy a panoramic view of Strandvägen, arguably the most exclusive address in Scandinavia. Pass the ship of the world’s strongest little girl, Pippi Longstocking.

Then, it is time to return to dry land. The engine roars for a few seconds as the captain hits the throttle to push the bus back onto land. Drive toward the starting point, passing the birthplace of the world-famous psychological phenomenon known as Stockholm syndrome. Also pass the city’s oldest building and its oldest park, once owned by the royal family. To complete

Absolutely brilliant activity made all the better for the guide who was humorous and knowledgeable. Great to see so many different things in such a short space of time. We really enjoyed the trip. Steps are steep to get into the vehicle but seats were relatively comfortable for the duration of the trip.

Well organised with our guide, Martin, being very informative around the route and very funny as well. The choice of Titanic on the sound system as we entered the water was hilarious. Overall, one of the best sightseeing trip we have done.
