This small-group day tour offers an easy way to explore the Dutch countryside beyond Amsterdam, combining traditional villages, engineering landmarks, and peaceful canal scenery.

Zaanse Schans
Start the day at Zaanse Schans with visits to a traditional cheese farm, where you’ll learn how Dutch cheese is made and sample a wide range of flavors, and a wooden clog workshop with a live demonstration by a craftsman. You’ll also visit Royal Amsterdam Diamond to learn about diamond cutting and see a polished diamond with 268 facets. Free time is included to walk among the windmills and take photos.

Afsluitdijk
Around midday, stop at the Afsluitdijk, one of the most significant water-management projects in the Netherlands. Learn about its construction while viewing the North Sea and the IJsselmeer.
Note: Due to renovation work, views may be partially limited and an alternative stop may be used.

Giethoorn
In the afternoon, arrive in Giethoorn, often called the “Venice of the Netherlands.” Enjoy free time to explore the village on foot, relax at cafés, and walk along canals and footbridges. A 1-hour boat cruise is included, with the option to upgrade to a self-drive boat for an additional fee.

We did a day tour with driver/guide Mr. Reinier, and it was an excellent experience. He is a very kind, friendly, and knowledgeable person who explained all the locations clearly and patiently. It was a good trip, but we were 7 in a mini van and hearing the conversation at times was difficult being in the back. We did not visit the diamond demonstration which was not a big deal. It is a long day, the canal cruise and wooden shoe demonstration was good.
