Tours & Excursions in Amsterdam

The visit to the Rijksmuseum was excellent - an amazing collection with iconic artists. The Canal Cruise (operated by Lovers) was dissapointing with a packed boat, poor sound, noisy travellers who were disinterested in the cruise and a captain who shouldn't be working in the tourism industry. He was condescending and treated his guests poorly. Not a good introduction to Amsterdam!

Our guide/captain Sven (?) was very knowledgeable, friendly and it was overall an excellent experience.

Even without knowing a lot about art or specifically Van Gogh himself, this museum is truly a must. I would definitely recommend getting the audio guide there which was only €3.50 and we’ll worth it! Depending on how detailed you’ll want to be there it’ll take anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours I’d say, I was there for about an hour and a half maybe more and there was still lots that I didn’t get to see so be prepared! Buying tickets beforehand sabes you a bunch of time so I’d definitely recommend that as well. I think the experience isn’t as good if you don’t get the audio guide in my opinion, the tickets I bought here didn’t include them but like I said getting them at the entrance was very easy and not too expensive, just a warning, they don’t take cash at the museum, it’s all by card (audio guide and any souvenirs form the museum shop)

Very organised with parties of 20 at a time. There wasn’t much seating in the lounge area but the choice of drinks were good. The overall experience was a good one.

Makes sense if you're visiting Amsterdam for the first time. Afterwards you will know how to get around the city by bike

The relaxed ride through the canals at night, the information given by the guides was good although could have been more if did during the day being able to see more?!

Kirk was a great captain and guide, he was funny and even answered our curiosity questions about the canals and Amsterdam. The tour was on time. We booked at 1pm, and when we got there the boat was closed and they informed us that in 30 minutes they will have an open boat so we changed. Highly recommended

Great tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable of Van Gogh. The whole tour was very interesting and we learned tons of facts about the artist. Definitely recommend doing this tour because you learn so much more than just walking around the museum by yourself.

The meeting place was easy to find. We were a small group which enabled us to stay together easily and I was able to hear all the information clearly. David our guide was informative engaging and when appropriate amusing in his delivery of the history and evolution of the area. The beer was also nice but potent for a pensioner. A couple of hours well spent.

Clare was a wonderful guide! I originally only did the guided tour because tickets were sold out for the other days I was there so this was the only way to get in. However, I have to say doing the guided tour elevated the whole experience tremendously and I'm so grateful I went this route. Clare's insight into Van Gogh's work and life added a whole new dimension to everything we saw.

A wonderful way to see Amsterdam from a good perspective

Paul, our tour guide, was charming, informative and humorous. We learned a lot about Amsterdam and tried some herring, which I thought I would hate, but enjoyed. We also tried Jenever a traditional juniper based gin which was delicious. Would recommend to anyone.

Very fun and rally good pancakes. The boat staff were kind and helpful.

Our guide, Victoria, has a solid mastery of all things Van Gogh, and an infectious curiosity that leads to true appreciation for the personal and societal concerns that impacted the artist. Nearly as important, Victoria had the fortitude to lead our group directly through the throngs of ambling, photo-taking (and music-playing!) tourists right up to the art so that we could actually experience it as Van Gogh did (rather than hovering back in the cheap seats just hoping to get a brief glimpse). Victoria was able to actively engage with both Van Gogh novices and those who have clearly done a good bit of study, making the tour informative and entertaining for all. I've been on other tours with professorial guides and stuffy content, and this tour was thankfully the precise opposite of that. Highly recommend!

I loved. The Bar experience is incredible. The cruise is also wonderful, but I left it for the night and regretted it. I believe it is more functional during the day.
