Details

Discover a side of Bangkok that many visitors overlook on this guided bike tour through local neighborhoods and canalside communities. Riding through narrow alleyways and quiet side streets, you’ll pass everyday markets and temples that play an important role in daily life for residents of downtown Bangkok. The experience is balanced with a scenic longtail boat ride, offering a different perspective of the city from the water.

At the start of the tour, bikes and helmets are fitted, and a bottle of water is provided. An English-speaking guide shares insights into everyday Thai culture and Buddhism throughout the journey. The route combines gentle cycling with regular stops, making it suitable for travelers seeking an active yet relaxed experience.

Your journey begins at Jamming Thailand HQ, where you’ll meet your guide and receive your bike and safety equipment. The first stop is Talad Plu Market, a working fresh market where you can observe local ingredients and food traditions in an authentic setting.

Cycling continues through a mix of residential areas and small lanes, passing Wat Khun Chan, a riverside temple that reflects the spiritual life of the surrounding community. After crossing the river, you’ll visit Wat Pak Nam, known for its glass stupa, where your guide explains the background of Thai history and Buddhist practices.

After several hours of riding, there’s a break at a canal-side restaurant near Baan Silapin, a traditional Thai house converted into a small gallery featuring local artwork, photography, and a puppet theater. The route then leads through riverside neighborhoods to Wat Ko, often called the Rooster Temple, where roosters fill the grounds and visitors can take part in feeding the fish, a practice associated with making merit.

The tour concludes with a longtail speedboat ride along the canals, offering views of homes and small businesses lining the water. This scenic return journey provides a final look at canal-side life before arriving back at Jamming Thailand HQ.

Great way to explore old Bangkok. Bo, our guide was friendly and looked after us well. We did the afternoon trip. Lunch was followed by boat trip, visit to big Buddha and cycling round mainly narrow lanes. Would definitely recommend this trip whilst staying in Bangkok.

What a great morning! We went to markets and rode through tiny back streets that you would never know were even there. We rode along the river, got to explore markets, see a temple and ride along a canal to see a different perspective of houses and living. We even saw a few monitor lizards. We stopped and ate, food was marginal but the food is the least of the worries in Thailand, it's everywhere and you're not going to go hungry. Thank you to our wonderful guides. Thank you Tony!

Great way to see Thonburi old town. Bikes were great and the boat ride was amazing! We saw so much of the old town and stopped at Big Buddha for pictures. Our guide was knowledgeable about the area as he’s lived there his whole life. The lunch provided was delicious! Be aware, although the routes to bike on were not main roads, there was still some navigating around cars and also with motorbikes. We also went over many foot bridges and had to walk the bikes up several. If you’re not a strong bike rider I would hesitate on booking this. We loved it!!
