Budapest's private river experiences put you on the Danube on your own terms — no shared timetable, no crowd. Alle Travel runs five standout private and small-group formats, from a candlelit dinner for two on a stationary boat restaurant to a full-day combo tour with lunch and a cruise. Compare them below, check live availability and book with instant confirmation. You can browse the full collection of Danube cruises for more options, or see our guide to Budapest's Danube river fleet to learn more about the boats themselves.
Which boat should you book?
Vogue — dinner for two
Vogue is a fixed-mooring restaurant on the Danube, not a cruise: a 2.5-hour candlelit dinner for exactly two, with a welcome glass of prosecco, a 3-course menu and a rose-decorated panoramic table. Starts from €123.20 per trip. Best for couples who want a restaurant on the water rather than sightseeing.
Thetis Yacht — tasting cruise or full charter
A restored vintage German yacht with a mahogany interior, sundeck and onboard kitchen/bathroom, fitting up to 12 guests. The standard option is a 1-hour private wine tasting from €100 per person (6 wines, cheese and fruit board). For full control of the schedule, the same yacht is also available as a straight charter from €580 per hour — good for birthdays, proposals, or your own drinks programme.
Delfin II — candlelit dinner with live music
The smallest of Legenda's four-boat fleet, typically used for private functions. A relaxed, reserved-seating dinner cruise: 4 courses, a welcome drink, live Hungarian music, enclosed deck for bad weather. Up to 20 guests, about 1h10m, from €110 per person. Best for couples or small groups wanting a calm evening rather than a party.
Nimród — fireworks cruise
A stable two-deck catamaran used for Budapest's August 20th fireworks display, with options ranging from a 4-course gala dinner with piano (from €190) to a drinks-only ticket (from €69) — all positioned on the river clear of the crowds.
Full-day private city tour with lunch and cruise
A 7-hour guided tour covering Fisherman's Bastion, Buda Castle, St. Stephen's Basilica and Gellért Hill, combined with a river cruise and a 2-course lunch. Hotel pickup included. Up to 15 guests, from €500 per trip. Best if you want the whole city, not just the river.
Why go private
No shared deck, no fixed script — the route and pace are yours. Thetis tops out at 12 guests, and chartering her means the boat is entirely yours, not part of a shared schedule.
Not sure private is for you?
- Dinner cruises in Budapest — shared dinner cruises at a lower per-person price
- Wine cruises in Budapest — group tastings without chartering a whole boat
- Night cruises in Budapest — if the lit-up skyline matters more than privacy
What you'll see
- The Hungarian Parliament Building — the centrepiece of nearly every route, especially striking once lit at night.
- The Chain Bridge, the first permanent crossing between Buda and Pest.
- Buda Castle and the Citadella on Gellért Hill, both visible from the water on daytime and combo routes.
- Smaller private boats like Thetis can linger at the embankment longer than the big scheduled catamarans — useful for photos or simply slowing down.
Booking
- Most options run daily with multiple time slots and instant confirmation. Not sure which to pick: Vogue for a couple's dinner, Thetis for a tasting or full charter, Delfin II for a dinner with music, the full-day tour to cover the whole city. See the full Danube cruise collection or the Danube river fleet overview if you want to compare the boats first.
- Free cancellation up to 24–48 hours before departure on most listings — check the specific page for exact terms.
