2 Days Private Tour In the Algarve from Lisbon
Lisbon — Tavira — Faro — Vilamoura — Albufeira
Tavira Island
At the Praça da República in Tavira, we will find the City Hall and the Islamic Museological Nucleus with a diverse archaeological collection from the Islamic period. The Vaso de Tavira, the ex-libris of the museum, and the Misericórdia Church, built between 1541 and 1551, are considered the most remarkable Renaissance expressions of the Algarve. In the Tavira Castle, military architecture went through several phases over time, playing an important role in defending this territory—a perfect place for a panoramic view of the city. Old Town Faro
Perhaps the city in the Algarve with the most heritage, Faro is a city to discover within its walls, rich in history yet marked by periods of looting and destruction, especially during the great earthquake of 1755. In Faro, we’ll enjoy its historical center and perhaps have a coffee in one of the many cafés and terraces. (1 hour • Admission Ticket Free)
Marina de Vilamoura
Vilamoura is the country’s largest luxury complex with a marina, five golf courses, nightclubs, a tennis and diving club, and many star-studded hotels. The Vilamoura marina annually receives private yachts from around the world. The first, in 1974, was the Giralda sailboat of His Royal Highness, the Count of Barcelona. Since then, it has become an important center of tourism and luxury residential lodging. (2 hours • Admission Ticket Free)
Centro Historico de Albufeira
With three magnificent beaches—Praia dos Pescadores, Peneco, and Inatel—Albufeira is undoubtedly a place not to be missed. The colorful fishing boats on "Pescadores" beach are living memories of a fishing past. The historic center of Albufeira maintains a traditional atmosphere with whitewashed houses, narrow cobbled streets filled with cafes and shops, and lively nightlife with tempting bars, restaurants, and nightclubs. We will pick up our guests from their location in Albufeira. (30 minutes • Admission Ticket Not Included)
Marina De Lagos
In the mid-16th century, Lagos was a major base supporting the Discoveries, with expeditions departing from here and goods being traded. This strategic importance led to considerable economic development and urban growth. Due to continuous harassment from North African corsairs, the city built a second set of walls, adapted to new military architectural concepts introduced by the generalization of artillery use. Sagres Fortress
Also known as Promotorium Sacrum, the Sagres Fortress was built by order of Prince Henry the Navigator. Inside, we’ll see cannons, a 16th-century tower, and the Church of Our Lady of Grace. A notable monument is the rose of the winds, a sundial some believe dates back to the time of Prince Henry and the nautical school he founded in Sagres. (1 hour • Admission Ticket Not Included)
Cape Saint Vincent
Very close by, we’ll visit the Fortress of “Cabo de São Vicente,” built in the 16th century to protect the coast from Moorish attacks and pirates. According to legend, the fortress stands where the remains of Saint Vincent were kept before being moved to Lisbon. (1 hour • Admission Ticket Not Included)
