One-Day Guided Tour to Versailles with Lunch
On this full-day trip, take in the splendor of the Château de Versailles and its neighborhoods. The guide's tale will take you to the time of Louis XIV's reign and palace intrigues. You will learn about love relationships and even murder attempts.
The complex of the Palace of Versailles, which includes several more "small palaces" and a park, is the largest in Europe. Despite its splendor and size, the general view of the Palace of Versailles is holistic; it does not create a feeling of heaps of elements and excess, which allowed it to become a model for other royal residences of the Renaissance.
You should start your tour at the state apartments, where you may see the Queen's bedroom, the Hall of Mirrors, and the reception halls. You may discover more about court life, her intrigues and secrets, and the Sun King's reign as you tour the palace gardens and outbuildings.
The mirror gallery at Versailles is the most impressive attraction of the palace. The hall with seventeen arched window openings overlooking the garden looks unusually spacious and bright due to the huge mirror panels opposite them. Sculptures and crystal chandeliers organically merge into a single ensemble.
After lunch, you will see the Great Trianon. The one-story palace, made in the classical style and decorated with pink marble tiles, served both as a haven for secret rendezvouses with favorites and as a hunting castle. Next, view Marie-lovely Antoinette's hideaway before your trip comes to a close in the opulent grounds. You may now leisurely stroll about and admire the palace's and its surroundings' magnificence.
