Charles Bridge Museum

Charles Bridge Museum

The museum is housed in the Baroque building of the Military Order of the Crusaders of the Red Star, established by Saint Agnes of Bohemia in 1252, at the eastern end of Charles Bridge. The building originally served as the Křižovník hospital, built in the mid-13th century at the foot of the earlier Judith Bridge — the predecessor to Charles Bridge. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to St. Agnes of Bohemia, its founder. Other sections cover the history of Charles Bridge, its construction and decoration across the centuries, with craft tools, paintings, and illustrative 3D building models — including scale reconstructions of Prague around the year 1000 and of the Judith and Charles Bridges under construction. The museum also features a scale model with several hundred figurines of medieval workers and dozens of models of construction machinery. A compact museum best visited before or after crossing the bridge itself.
