Details

At Pompeii's stunning archaeological site, you can travel back in time and get a unique perspective on life during the Roman Empire.

Travel from Rome along the Highway of the Sun, taking in the scenery of Lazio's countryside and the Castelli Romani on the way. Naples is the first destination. Take a look around this Mediterranean city, which is well-known for its culinary offerings, art, and history.

You can get a great view of the town by driving up the Vomero hill, which overlooks the bay of Naples and stretches from the Sorrento peninsula to the Phlegrean fields volcanic area. The majestic and still active volcano Vesuvius dominates the landscape. The ideal location for taking pictures of this magnificent landmark is here.

Travel south toward Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii in the direction of the port of Mergellina.

Stop for a conventional Italian lunch, and afterward advance toward the UNESCO World Legacy Site of Pompeii. Get quick track section on appearance with your skip-the-line tickets, and afterward go through the early evening time investigating this once flourishing city, frozen in time by layers of volcanic debris in 79 Promotion. Pompeii was able to withstand the ravages of time as well as the destructive effects of heavy weather and climate for 17 centuries because it was buried beneath a layer of pumice stones and ash that was 19 to 23 feet (6 to 7 meters) deep.

Continue your journey through the Roman countryside and take in the sights as you leisurely return to the city. Arrive in time to enjoy Rome at your leisure for the remainder of the night.
