Details

After dusk settles over Venice, meet your guide near the iconic Rialto Bridge and set off into a maze of narrow alleys and quiet, lamp-lit squares. As you walk, your guide shares tales from the city’s lesser-known past—stories that range from the sacred to the unsettling. Hear about noble-blooded spirits said to haunt grand palaces, and learn the gruesome legend of Biasio, a medieval figure rumored to have committed unspeakable acts involving local children.

The route includes a stop at the striking Bovolo staircase, an architectural curiosity with spiral stone arches that hide strange secrets within their design. You’ll also hear about ancient cemeteries now buried beneath modern paving stones, and consider local myths of mysterious creatures once believed to dwell in Venetian waters.

Where conditions allow, you’ll descend to a hidden passageway—a former meeting spot for lovers who gathered by torchlight, away from prying eyes. The tour culminates in the atmospheric Calle dei Assassini, a street notorious as a haunt for criminals and the scene of numerous dark deeds throughout history.

Your guide then accompanies you back to the Rialto Bridge area, where the evening remains yours to continue exploring—should you feel brave enough to wander Venice’s shadowy corners alone.

Our guide was a great storyteller! It was spooky, yet informative regarding the history of Venice. We enjoyed the picture taking at the Rialto Bridge and the surprise visit to the spiral staircase. Very interesting evening walk!

Our family really enjoyed hearing many stories and seeing the actual places they occurred. It was fun to experience history that most people are not aware of.

We went on July 23 at 7 pm, I can’t remember the name of our guide but she was amazing. She was Venetian and knew the history of her city so well and she was an amazing story teller. I was hesitant to book because some reviews I saw, but our guide was incredible. Would even do the tour again. Thanks.
