Details

The Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as a solemn reminder of the atrocities committed at the Nazi German concentration camp during World War II, where over a million Jews and other victims lost their lives.
This historic complex comprises two separate sections, Auschwitz and Birkenau, which you will explore with a compassionate, authorized guide who will deepen your understanding of the site’s profound history.
Convenient round-trip transfers are provided directly from your Krakow accommodation, and a variety of departure times are available, allowing you to choose the schedule that best fits your plans.

Your tour begins with transportation from Krakow (hotel you specified or a meeting point you choose from). Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum is located in the town Oswiecim, about 1h15min in one way (65km).
After arriving in Oswiecim, have a short break to grab a coffee or keep an eye on outdoor exhibitions. Then be kindly introduced to your local and professional guide who is licensed by Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum.
Start your tour by walking through the gate to the first camp — Auschwitz I — originally conceived as a concentration camp, to be used as a detention centre for the many Polish citizens arrested after Germany annexed the country in 1939.
Visit the original wooden buildings, fortified walls, barbed wires, gas chambers and crematoria — all of those leave a shocking impression allowing to imagine the scale of Holocaust.
After the 1st camp short break up to 15 minutes is planned.
You will be told about terrible stories of unimaginable living conditions as well as cruel selection and pseudo-scientific medical experiments made by prominent Nazi doctors including Josef Mengele.
When the tour ends, there is at least a 20 minutes break which you can spend in a bookstore, grocery store or just rest. After another 1h15min on the way, you will be taken to a predetermined address in Krakow.

The trip was so well organised with no delays or hiccups. Norbert even called us when on his way to say he was a few minutes delayed. It too around 1.5 hours to reach Auschwitz from our pick up point. We had regular breaks for toilet, coffee/tea etc. There is a small cafe there but also seats outside where you can eat your packed lunch. The tour guide was excellent. Lucas was quite passionate and emotional when relaying stories and extremely knowledgeable about what actually happened.

It was a very sad time and heartbreaking. Our guide was amazing, he knew so much about Auschwitz. It's true what they say, once you have been I think it will stay with you forever. I'm glad I did the trip. The prisoners who survived, wanted people to see what they went through and wanted it persevered not rebuilt so you could see it from their experiences.

The experience itself was powerful and unforgettable. I wish our tour guide allowed more silence to reflect and take in the enormity of the moment, instead she repeated statistics over and over that, while devastating, took up the focus we wanted to have to process emotionally what we saw and heard.
