Details

Take a guided walking tour of Vatican City to see some of Rome's most popular tourist attractions. Your tour guide will take you to the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, and Vatican Museums, where you can marvel at the well-known artworks and gaudy interiors.

Begin your tour of the Vatican Museums by meeting your guide near the entrance, and then follow them to the most interesting galleries. Take a look at the Gallery of Maps, the Rotunda, and the Gallery of Tapestries.

See the ancient statues, frescoes, and tapestries on the walls as well as the ornate ceilings in each room.

After that, step inside the Sistine Chapel and take in the intricate frescoes that line the walls and ceiling. The Sistine Chapel, which was painted by Michaelangelo between 1508 and 1512, is a significant piece of High Renaissance art.

Michelangelo devoted some of his best years to the Sistine Chapel, working day and night and even sleeping in the chapel to please the popes of Rome from Adam's creation to the Last Judgement.

The artist also used hidden meanings in his work to express his frustration, which have since been revealed and deciphered. Heed the guide reveals Michelangelo's private jokes.

The final part of your guided walking tour takes you to St. Peter's Basilica. The cathedral is the world's largest church and one of the most famous pieces of Renaissance architecture.

Your guide will lead you through the cathedral's interior, where you'll find numerous masterpieces of Renaissance and Baroque art. Admire Bernini's intricate St. Peter's Baldachin and Michelangelo's renowned Pietà.

Outside the cathedral is where your tour comes to an end. You are free to explore Saint Peter's Square or the nearby Castel Sant'Angelo on your own from this location.

Very good but don't get time to stop and see everything between Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Basillica. So much though that you'd need a second or even third visit to capture it all.

Very informative visit with an excellent guide! Veronica was very enthusiastic, pleasant and well informed. We were almost one hour late and the company were very nice and accommodated us into another tour. There was no stress or hassle as they stayed on the phone with me to tell me where to meet them. Bravissimo!

Great tour with a perfect guide. It was awesome, can highly recommend to anyone, dont overthink it cause it covers all you need. Also at the end on the way out you can go by yourself to the Dome cause you exit on that side so everything is covered.

While St. Peter's Basilica is free to enter, you can opt for a guided tour ticket that includes both the Vatican Museums and the basilica. If you enter on your own, you will be required to go through security, and lines can be long. It is advisable to hire a guide.

It was definitely worth the guided tour, especially if you don't have an art history background. We went in October so the basilica was a lot less crowded than I would expect during peak tourist season, but it still saved us a pretty long wait in line.

Claudia was the best and Cipriano was awesome. We were a group of 5 and got lost and never got to the meeting point. They were like soldiers “no men left behind” Everyone graciously waited while Cipriano went outside and found us. Once inside the Vatican, Claudia was a book of knowledge and graciously shared it with us. Thanks to both of you and your touring company, we had an excellent experience.
