Details

Take a one-of-a-kind walking tour of Rome's iconic landmarks, including the Colosseum and arena floor, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. Your local guide will show you hidden aspects of these famous Italian landmarks and tell you about their long history.

Take a guided tour of the Roman Forum as a start. In the Forum, the city's political, social, and religious heart, you can see the ruins of temples, public buildings, and the Vestal Virgins' sacred home. Learn about political dramas and the routine of people who lived more than 2,000 years ago.

After that, head to Palatine Hill, where Romulus decided to build his new city, which later housed the powerful and wealthy during the Republic.

In the end, get to the famous Colosseum. Through the gladiators' gate, enter the arena floor, and imagine what it was like for them to emerge in front of thousands of noisy spectators. Look down into the dungeons from the arena, where the gladiators prepared for the competition and kept wild animals.

Important information:

  • In the case of bad weather (snow, rain, frost…), the arena floor may be closed off without a prior notice. Access onto the arena floor will be restricted, though entry through the gladiators’ gate will not be affected. In these cases refunds cannot be provided

Fantastic, friendly and knowledgable tour guide called Laura Antonucc! She was engaging, entertaining yet highly informative and captivating. We got through security swiftly and missed the queues. They meet you at bottom of the Arc de Constantine. Would highly recommend!

Rome Coliseum, Wow Wow Wow, definitely make sure you do the guided tour for this one, the guide Stefano was superb, really knowledgeable and the overall experience was well worth the money and time spent listening to the story, history along with bringing it all to life. – Thanks Stefano!

Having a guide is excellent both for understanding how the Colosseum was built and how it fit into the history of Rome as well as simply helping navigate the structure and crowds. It’s helpful to be able to take your time looking at details and imaging how things were, with good narration.

We booked 2 mo in advance for a 12:55 tour. A few days before, we were contacted asking us if we could move to 11 am - presumably consolidating 2 tours. That was fine, but be aware they might change on you, so you need to provide contact information on a device you’ll have turned on (we’re from USA so my phone was off, my husband’s was on). We booked a 10 person or less (and paid extra) but there were 14 on the tour. The public lines were long, and this tour doesn’t skip most of them - due to All Saints Day and the holiday. When you plan, don’t go on a holiday!! To the tour: we had Laura who was a native Roman & she was fantastic!! Our tour was in English and she had a great Roman history background, told info from a native POV, & great command of the English language. We would’ve never known what we were looking at & the historical significance of the Roman Forum or Colosseum without her!!! She kept the tour moving, showed relevant and interesting points, & was very personable.

We found the whole experience very pleasant. The meeting point was convenient and easy to find. The guide was very knowledgeable and easy to listen to. We preferred the Colosseum part of the experience more than the forum part but that was just personal preference and why we had booked the tour in the first place. We learned some things we'd never known before and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.

The tour and guide were great and entertaining. The guide had a good knowledge of the three areas and helped us to avoid the crowds. The tour included the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and ended in the Forum, quite a bit of walking but it was interesting and well presented. The guide stopped us regularly to suggest photograph locations and for water stops... which was helpful.

It was a good tour, but it's really not just a Colloseum tour. Was more like an hour on Palatine Hill, an hour at the Forum and 30 minutes at the Colloseum - partly due to issues with security for one of the group. We did end in the Colosseum though and could stay as long as we wanted afterwards. Having done Pompeii the week before with an archaeologist guide, we had a good understanding of Roman times which was useful. Being in Rome itself is overwhelming so it's nice to just follow a guide a round and look at a few bits and get some chat. No idea how much queue time we saved by using the group fast track - groups enter at a different gate than non-groups and we never saw the queue on the other side. It was all efficient and quick for the tours though - but don't bring a scooter for your kid as it won't get in!

Loved this tour, our guide Francesco was very knowledgable and friendly, he gave us a good overview of the history of the colosseum, the forum and the politics of ancient Rome without leaving us overloaded with information. Joining instructions were simple and it was well organised. Only downside was the tour size of 10 was exceeded (13 were on the tour rather then the 10 advertised), and the guides were freelancers rather then employees of the company. We still had a wonderful time and would do this tour again!

Sonya was a great tour guide. We were surprised by the amount of knowledge she shared about the colosseum, forum and Palentine hill. The tour started at the lower subway station and ended on top of the palentine hill. The colosseum is a busy place and with the small group we were able to circle around and see photos and other documents that showed the area in its height.

Our guide Maria was amazing, She went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible. Very funny and knowledgeable and got the information across while keeping you interested. Ocassionally the headset we used wasnt clear or cut out but that could just be due to the distance where the group got briefly split in crowds
