Outlander Filming Locations Tour from Edinburgh — Follow Jamie & Claire’s Journey

Step into the world of Outlander on this full-day Edinburgh day trip and explore the most iconic Outlander filming locations in Scotland. From historic castles to charming villages, immerse yourself in the landscapes and stories of Jamie and Claire while enjoying a comfortable guided tour.

Midhope Castle — Lallybroch

Your adventure begins at Midhope Castle, known as Jamie’s beloved home, Lallybroch. While visitors cannot enter the castle ruins, you can sit on the iconic steps, explore the courtyard, and imagine your favorite Outlander scenes coming to life. This is a must-see photo opportunity for any fan of the series.

Blackness Castle — The Ship That Never Sailed

Next, journey through the stunning Scottish countryside to Blackness Castle, an impressive fortress nicknamed “the ship that never sailed.” Walk the ancient ramparts, explore Jack Randall’s fictional headquarters, and take in dramatic views over the Firth of Forth. Just be careful… you might sense a lurking villain!

Linlithgow Palace — Wentworth Prison

Stop at Linlithgow Palace, featured as Wentworth Prison in Outlander. Enjoy a picnic by the loch or taste local Scottish specialties while photographing the birthplace ruins of Mary Queen of Scots. Take in the stunning views of the Forth bridges and step into history as you explore the palace grounds.

Doune Castle — Castle Leoch

Travel past Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument to Doune Castle, home to Colum MacKenzie and his clan in the series. Discover the real 14th-century history of the castle, and don’t miss the audio guide on Monty Python and the Holy Grail, filmed here!

Culross — Cranesmuir

Step back in time in Culross, a beautifully preserved 16th-century village that served as Cranesmuir in Outlander. Wander the cobbled streets, explore Claire’s herb garden, and imagine life 400 years ago. Culross is a fan favorite and a photographer’s dream, offering a glimpse into historic Scotland.

South Queensferry — Scenic Harbor

Before returning to Edinburgh, enjoy a stop in the vibrant South Queensferry harbor area. Take in the views of the Forth bridges, snap a few last photos, or simply enjoy the charming atmosphere of this historic town.

We had such a good time on our tour! Nick A. shared all of his superb knowledge of the history of Scotland! And of course his knowledge of Outlander! Playing the music on the way up the lane to Lollybroch made my wife’s day! Thank you it’s an adventure we won’t soon forget!

I might be willing to give a 5-star review if our tour guide Barbara hadn’t started out the tour by loudly complaining about how much she hated Outlander, the main characters, or the lead actor himself. Completely unnecessary, rude, and downright insulting considering the fact all of us had paid a large sum for a magical Outlander specific tour. Incredibly unprofessional and downright insulting to the fans of the show and book. Would consider another Rabbie tour because of the small size, but would honestly ask for a refund if I was stuck with Barbara for another 8 hours. Actual tour was great, sites worth seeing, but Barbara sucked, for a lack of better term.

A great day despite one castle not bejng accessible on the day. Eric was an amazing guide; personable, funny and very knowledgeable about Scottish history. Would recommend the trip to all Outlander fans and also those interested in castles in general. As a note the tea-room in Culross needs a mention. At the end of a cold day this unpretentious little place offered the best cheese scones and coffee we've tasted in the UK by far. Thanks for a grand day!

The tour was outstanding. My girlfriend and I are huge fans of “Outlander” series and Stefan, our guide was the best thing that we could ask for. He was extremely funny, informative, positive and most of all he made the tour a magical experience. I would definitely ,highly recommend Rabbies. They are a good company and have well chosen their staff. My girlfriend and I are definitely going to buy a tour from Rabbies again! 11/10

Our guide was energetic, informative about history and funny. He made sure we knew enough to get the most out of each stop, the scenery along the way, and to eat well while still keeping things on schedule. It was a highlight for our group of 5 to be able to just take it all in, at a reasonable pace, and to see first-hand why Outlander wisely made use of so many incredible venues and scenery in Scotland. I'd do a Rabbie's tour again anytime, and use Getmyguide on my jaunts around the world. Fabulous!

Absolutely lovely day! Andy was a great guy, very kind, a good sense of humour & pleasant company! Thank you so much Andy! What a beautiful day around key places of the Outlander show. The pace was perfect with lots of time to see. Never felt rushed, a good balance between being guided & having free time! Highly recommended even if you are not an Outlander nerd, those places are stunning & worth being seen!

Our tour guide, Lizzy, made the whole day SO MUCH FUN. My sister and I flew over to Scotland from our Dublin vacation for just the day. We had the absolute best day touring the filming locations with Lizzy at the helm. As we drove she'd share interesting tidbits of history or Outlander stories. Her being an Outlander superfan helped to make the day extra special. We loved the whole experience! Can't recommend the day highly enough.

Exciting and beautiful bus tour…. Also great for non Outlander fan..... Lallybroch was ok..... Not much to see. Blackness Castle is absolutely great... Culross is super small but nice - beautiful for a walk... Doune Castle with an audio guide is interesting. linlitgowth-Castler unfortunately closed, but still nice to look at from the outside. Tour highly recommended. Our tour guide Jan was very friendly and told interesting stories... Everything was perfect

I fully recommend this Outlander tour to any avid fan!! It was amazing! But I should point out that 2 of the places on our tour you had to pay to get in they are not included in the price you pay. Those were Midhope castle and Blackness castle. Otherwise it’s definitely worth the money! And our tour guide/bus driver Eric really made it more interesting…and entertaining! I honestly can’t recommend this tour enough, I’m a HUGE Outlander fan so this was like going to Disney land for me!
