The tours were amazing. The experience in Auschwitz and Birkenau were both sad and shocking. The guide did a great job with this sobering subject. The tour through the salt mine was fun and light-hearted, which allowed some emotional recovery. The transportation was okay, with pleasant drivers. However, the 8AM start time was changed to 5:45AM, so we could make a 7:30 tour. The tour didn't start until 8:30, so they had to cancel the hour break for lunch. It was a long day with little to no food.

Wieliczka was incredibly beautiful, but it was a very long day. Auschwitz, we were actually disappointed by that. Sounds harsh, but we know the history very well and have prepared for a day of intense emotions, especially as we have met a survivor of Auschwitz, but we were actually disappointed. It seemed like a lot of buildings, where there were few pictures that could reproduce what had happened back then. The guide told a lot of numbers, but it was the human stories we were interested in. At the same time, an incredible number of people and all the time "We have to move on, the next group is coming". Only place we could feel a little was in the gas chamber, where we discovered stars of david in mass scraped into the wall, but didn't even get it. in time to dwell on and think "What was going through the minds of the victims lately?" The trip, incredibly good information from the company and super nice drivers.

Overall the sights were good, but the transfers were chaotic. Firstly, the pick up time was changed "slightly" by email at 6pm the night before the trip from 8am to 6.05am, which meant we missed the hotel breakfast we had already paid for and didn't have time to organise a take away breakfast with the hotel. Then the location of the pick up point was shown wrongly on the map you provided - about 100m up the road. Fortunately we saw others waiting at the correct spot. Finally we received text messages telling us about the changed pick up time and the mobile number of the driver the day AFTER the trip. And we had two different drivers to the two sights, but the text message only gave the number for the first one. It would have been useful to have had the second number as you leave the salt mine at a location about a kilometre from the car park and we weren't told how to get back. We managed to find our way, but one elderly lady by herself failed to do so and we left without her.
