Self guided tour. The museum is in the original French royal palace. When you are inside keep in mind this place was set up for the riyal family & Court in the time of King Louis 14th & 15th. The royals moved to Versailles during the reign of Louis 15th. We arrived about 1hr early...had to wait until 15mins to booked time. Had coffee in shopping mall near the Louvre entrance. We used the audiophiles which too a little time to work out how to use. The staff did not give any explanation prior to using. The guides were good giving information about the room you entered & any special displays. Crowds were noted at the important displays so be patient seeing these. We were at the fir about 4hrs and this was long enough for us...it would take days to see the whole museum. Research what you want to see then note these on your guide map. The museum is on many levels so you will need to use stairs & lifts to get around.

We got a resecarían for a little to late in the day. Make sure that you arrive early, 30 to 45 minutes so that your wait time is shorter. You stand in the sun for almost an hour just waiting in line. This place is gigantic so plan to make it a full day or half day experience. They partnered with Nintendo to do their audio guide, but even though they have a little demos of how to use it it’s to clunky and confusing! Read the descriptions on the painting or artwork and use your imagination!

The most amazing art collection we have ever seen. The Baroque in particular was breathtaking. Could not recommend enough. Definitely be there thirty minutes before the said time. You skip the ticket line but need to wait at least thirty minutes to get into the building. Also bring an umbrella in case it is really sunny or has a chance of rain.

This museum is a don't-miss experience while in Paris! I went in there with the goal of seeing the most the handful of most popular works, and was blown away by the entirety of the collections. It's life-altering, just go and you'll walk out transformed by the contributions of so many carefully created and curated works of art.

Long line even with the timed pass as they allow everyone in at the same time who are booked at that hour. Moves quickly once they start the process but you will wait in line as a group until then. I don’t recommend the audio. It’s not well done or easy to navigate and heavy to carry around.

Audioguide is not the best, I recommend booking witha tour guide instead. Museum is extremely big, be prepared to walk. Make sure you are on the right line outside, because we didn’t know there were different lines and wasted like 40 minutes outside by doing both lines.

The waiting line was quite long although we had the tickets, so make sure to join the queue about 30 minutes beforehand. The audio guide was a little difficult to figure out, but once we did, we had an amazing experience and saw all the masterpieces! Totally worth it!!

The only thing I would suggest is to go through the instructions for the DS on how to us it. We wasted a lot of time just trying to learn how to navigate ourselves. Otherwise the experience was wonderful. I will return to the louve and use the service again.
