We had a lovely trip out to the Douro Valley! Everything was well organised and ran smoothly- even in the rain! The food was amazing- best food of our trip! The port tasting was great and the setting in the valley is beautiful! Recommend this day trip to anyone who enjoys food and wine tours!

Well organized trip , stop at a viewpoint , 1st winery was informative and had an amazing lunch there where you had wine tasting with your meal . Then off to the Douro River cruise , relaxing , smooth ride and amazing view .last winery was a higher end winery where we tried Port wine and had a worker take us around as well. We went on September 27, right during harvest , great timing. Definitely would recommend this over doing it solo. Mario and Jose were our guide and driver.

Excellent organisation, group was not too big, 25, minibus, Silvinho was driving like Carlos Sainz senior, not only because he stopped at Repsol, and Thiago was making a good atmosphere between the group keeping us awake with his jokes, wuips and subquestions. We’ve tried some divine taste wines, lunch was very good, we could make a pictures of a wonderful Douro Valley native and landscapes. River cruise didn’t took us too much time… Thiago gave us advices for other things to do in Porto, tips and hints… We’ve learned a lot abot Portugal and this region of a country. That was absolutely value for money experience!

The guide was really informative, kept everything to time. The extra bottles of water were really appreciated having experienced a blistering 42C in the Douro Valley. Lunch was really well cooked, really appreciated this being at a vineyard. I naively thought we could explore the valley by train from Porto. Managed to book this two days before and it was by far the best way to see the Douro Valley. The town of Amarante was beautiful and sold some delicious pastries other than custards tarts!

Jorge was great. I learned so much about the different types of wines and the Douro region. We spent just enough time at each location. Lunch was delicious. I would recommend this tour to those looking to spend the day in the Douro region. Tiago was our bus driver and he was also great maneuvering the many twists and turns!

An excellent well planned day. Joann our tour guide did an amazing job explaining as we moved throughout the day. we visited two wineries. The first offered their tour and lunch (so much good food) and a tasting. The second tour brought us into to Vineyard, close to the grapes and a beautiful tasting.

This trip was the best thing we did visiting Porto. We learned so much from our guide, Nuno, the history of wine making going back to Roman days up until current days. Our visit to 2 wineries included a guided tour of the winery, wine tasting, and a very nice meal at one of the wineries. If you do anything, do this tour.

We had a great guide and bus driver. Both were very sweet and knowledgeable. The trip was exactly as we expected. The only downside was the lunch food which was mediocre. Otherwise, the views, the boat ride, and the wine tasting was fun! I would recommend this to other visitors.

What a lovely tour. The tour guide is Noanoa and he was excellent, I could be spelling his name wrong but he said Nono. Anyway, he was great and very informative. All the places we went was great. My favorite is the 2nd vineyard where we went through the fields and picked the grapes and was able to eat them as they are organic. The wine tasting was also good and very knowledgeable.

Know that the pick up location listed is not the exact spot. You have to go to the nearest tourist office (which should be the one you booked with) and they will point you to the bus you’re suppose to get on. They match the vehicle with how many are completing the activity. For us it was a bus not a mini van. The cruise is not personal to your group. It’s shared with other people that paid for their own seats. You have to buy the wine you desire at the time you’re at that specific winery otherwise purchase online if that’s offered. The experience over wall was lovely. I would recommend if it matches your budget.

Beautiful experience!! Joana and Tiago have been amazing! Joana was super excited and gave us all the information needed to appreciate the treasures of the lands we were discovering. First stop, Amarante, was too quick but enough to see its beautiful bridge and small square. The 2 cellars were very nice and interesting. In the first one they produce the muscat wine. The guide was very through ! I loved seeing here what they do and the lunch offered was good quality too! After that we headed to Pinhão where we did a 1h cruise on the river. It would have been perfect if the boat was open and they didn't close us between windows which blocked air that was essential as there were almost 40 °C! This was the only downside durin all trip. Too warm and the air conditioner wasn't even enough in the minivan. The second cellar was nice too, they produce port wine and the location was stunning. Less informative than the first one but we tasted amazing wines here as well! Overall amazing day!!

One of the best guided tours we have been on. The tour guide, Sophia, was very knowledgeable, considerate and entertaining. Sophia’s English was excellent and her anecdotes kept us all amused. The winery tours were very good and food and wine great. The river cruise was a nice way to relax after lunch. The coach driver, Daria, was polite and friendly. Highly recommend this tour.

This winery tour of the Douro Valley was MUCH better than expected. Our guide, Hugo, was very informative, caring, and navigated the tricky roads with ease. The whole experience was planned to provide education and enjoyment for all. We walked into a vineyard and learned about the grape vines and varieties, explored vintage grape stomping and processing rooms, and tasted amazing varieties. Lunch was prepared in the most beautiful and idyllic setting. You will not regret booking this tour. Thank you, Hugo! - Bob & Sandy

We loved our tour. Our guide Tiago was great! He explained us many facts and curiosities about the region. The visit to the first wine yard was beautiful! The views were just stunning and the Porto wine delicious. Gorgeous and interesting at the same time. Lunch was great too, with a wonderful view. We didn’t like the last vineyard as much and my opinion this should be changed. There were no views or opportunity to walk through the vineyards. It was not interesting as the other one and guide from there wasn’t very knowledgeable. But overall the tour was great. I would just change the last vineyard.

Felipe was outstanding guide for From Porto Douro River Tour 9 hours. Knowledge expert professionally relevant to being a guide, safe efficient driver, personable, sense of humour. 9 of us in group was perfect size. Best ports, wines, lunch, 1 hour cruise on Douro River, best and different tasting olive oil tasting and honeys. Had the best wine ever not available in Canada but can purchase on site. Amazing products and informative education. In addition Felipe arranged for me to attend 1 hour Fado show in Porto before leaving for my restaurant dinner reservation. Thank you Felipe. We were all so grateful you were our guide.

Very nice tour and Patricia the tour guide was professional, very knowledgeable and communicative. We loved that we could sit down, relax and be driven to all the places without thinking and every experience was amazing and authentic. Thank you for a great day.

Four of us took the tour on October 15, 2021 through the Douro Valley. We met two other couples who were in our van on the same tour and we had a tremendous day together. Our guide was Patricia and she was absolutely amazing. Her English is impeccable and she is very informative and entertaining. It was a perfect mix of wineries, the lunch was excellent, the boat cruise was lovely and the views were fantastic. Two of us have spent lots of time both in Portugal and also in the Douro Valley. We (and our guests) thought this was a perfect day to get a flavour of this part of Portugal.

Thiago was a amazing tour guide. From start to finish the professionalism and execution of the whole day was flawless. His interaction with all guests no matter the language was great. Really bringing the whole experience together. Thank you and I’ll be come back for sure. One of the most beautiful places I’ve been in Portugal.

The company contacted me the day before, picked me up from the hotel. Clear explanation of the day's program, and all happened as expected. Nice group of travellers (7). A good route and excellent speakers at each venue. The guide Guillermo was easy to follow, but knew when to stop talking, and he was interested in the passengers. I had a lovely day, as a solo traveller.

Great daytrip to enjoy the Douro scenery -- the tour on the port estate could've been a bit more informative but, our guide for the day was our walking encyclopedia so compensated a lot. The boat trip was nice and the lunch was great. The wines tasting also excellent. The trip in the van is a bit heavy on the stomach but thats the cost of exploration. Great value for money.

Amazing excursion. Very interactive and interesting. We’ve been introduced to wine and port wine making process and afterwards had opportunity to try local wines and products. Special thanks to our guide Guillermo who told us a lot of interesting facts about this region and the whole country itself. Also, we really enjoyed our small group as it gave us more personal touch with each group member. Lunch was very delicious and we’ve been breath-taken by the views during our river ride.

I would highly recommend booking. Our guide Patricia from Portugal Excellence Tours was awesome and very knowledgeable about Porto and the wine industry but also Portugal as a whole. She went out her way to make us feel comfortable and to alleviate our concerns as we where traveling during Covid.

My partner and I we wanted to do something nice eith his parents in Porto. Today we did the tour with Tiago and had a wonderful experience. Tiago was so attentive, friendly and saw to all our needs. We loved the guided informative tours of both the vineyards and the boat trip was so relaxing and a feast for our eyes. We then went on to our lunch stop in Sabrosa which was out of this world the food was tasty and views were spectacular. We would definetely recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in a relaxing day out soaking up the best that the Duoro Valley has to offer, great views, great Porto, great wine and food. Muito obrigada!!! :

This was a nice day. I enjoy the small group experience. Our guide knew a lot about the area and was a pleasure to talk with. My only wish was that the boat ride had been a smaller boat with less people and it would have been nice not to have windows. The lunch was great and the tastings were so much fun.

Our guide, Pedro (apologies for not knowing his name in Portuguese!) was knowledgeable, friendly, informative and good company. Even on a wet, grey day, the valley was beautiful and worth visiting. The tastings were high quality and generous, as was the typical Portuguese lunch. We would definitely recommend this tour.

I really enjoyed the whole tour especially tasting various wines. Our guide Marco was very warm-hearted and friendly so the atmosphere of our group was awesome. Visiting douro valley was amazing and peaceful moment that I’d expected. I want to visit here again on September:) In my opinion, I’m strongly recommend this tour!

The tour was very well organized. We were picked up at the hotel perfectly on time. After a short stop for a coffee it went to the first wine estate, where we could taste 2 Rosé, white and red wines. Also the olive oil and 3 kinds of honey were delicious. As an added bonus, we were able to taste 2 port wines, which was actually not foreseen, but was still heartily offered. Along the way, the very friendly guide Felipe had shared interesting information about the Douro Valley. The welcome at the winemaker was professional, but above all cordial. Then we took a boat trip of about an hour on the Douro along the vineyards. Then it went to the 2nd wine estate where we were served white and red wine for lunch and after a short tour we could taste 5 port wines. The visitors always get the opportunity to buy, but without pressure. Overall a very nice and relaxing tour well worth the money.

I didn't really know what to expect from this tour, but it was so much better than I could have imagined! The tour was so amazing, our host, Violet, was so welcoming and warm and she made the tour a really great experience! She always made sure that we were all okay and accommodated all of us. Great day, even better wine and the knowledge given was well worth every penny! It's a must!

I did a similar tour about a month ago and I thought it was pretty good but this one raised the bar. The guide was just amazing and full of information. She also had a great sense of humor. The winery's chosen where great and so beautiful. The lunch provided was family style at this restaurant above a fire station. There was plenty of food and wine and it was well presented.

The tour was a lot of fun. The only real issue we had was that it was very difficult to hear the driver as we sat in the back of the van and we had three large adults in the rear seats with little leg room. Lunch was a nice restaurant with good service but the food was mediocre . The wineries were very interesting and informative and the wine and cheese is served were delicious

Wonderful day to spend on this tour - had a lot of fun drinking, eating, and learning so much about wine, olive oil, and port production. Best part is that all the wineries are family owned businesses. Oh yeah, there's also some ridiculously good-looking views of the the Douru valley too if you're into that ;) Thank you to our amazing guide Alex - he knows the Douro region (and the roads!) like the back of his hand.

If you dont do this for any other reason, you do this for the scenery. I have been to Italy numerous times, and this is more magnificent. We went with a group that were not wine aficionados, but were glad they went, as the area and the history was the main event. Our guide Lola, was stellar!

This was an amazing tour with a wonderful guide. Our small group visited a small winery that also made olive oil where we found out about how to make olive oil and sampled their wines. A boat tour of the Duoro River was followed by a wonderful home-cooked meal at a family establishment. In the afternoon, we visited a family winery where we learned about the making of port and sampled many types of port wine. A totally satisfying day.

Great tour and great guide!! My husband and I had a great time. The wineries we visited were so nice and fun, the wines were so delicious, the lunch place was delicious and beautiful, and the views the guide took us to were amazing. The small group tour was the best. The guide's talk was so fun, and we learned Portugal history, culture and economy through his talk. We just had a wonderful time, thank you so much!! Also, before the tour, the company communicated with me quickly and responded to my questions, which was very helpful.

We had Violetta as our guide in a small group of 8 (4 of us and 4 others who were all very easy to get along with) and she was amazing. Knowledgeable, friendly and fun.. The stops were fantastic, the wine, port, views, and food all great and the tour was perfectly paced. The optional boat ride was also well worth the small amount of extra money. Highly recommended by us!

We had an amazing day, starting with our guide Rodrigo being right on time to pick us up. There was a total of 8 people on the tour - a full van, and so much better than a large tour bus. Rodrigo provided a lot of interesting commentary on the way out to the Douro Valley. The first stop of the morning was at a beautiful little vineyard where we had a "second breakfast" (as the tour operator will tell you, eat breakfast before getting picked up because it takes about 90 minutes to get out to the valley). The "second breakfast" included a tasting of some olive oil, red and white wine, and some olives, bread and sausages. We also got to visit the vineyard's operations and cellars, which were beautiful. The views were amazing! From there, we had a short drive to a village along the river where we embarked on a boat tour. Seeing the Douro from the water was majestic! The last stop was in another village in the hills where we had an amazing meal and tastings. Great value for the money!

The tour guide and driver were both very good, and the guide Ivor was very knowledgeable and made sure we got the best experience. The tasting at the vineyards was very informative and we purchased a few bottles. We had our grandchildren with us and they loved the river cruise. It was a most enjoyable day.

Incredible tour. Milena was an amazing, funny, knowledgeable guide and Pedro was a great driver! Felt very safe on very windy mountain roads. The Douro valley is absolutely beautiful. I loved that we sampled wines from a smaller company that I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to try otherwise. Lunch was also delicious and at a very nice restaurant. The river cruise was the perfect way to end the day. Absolutely beautiful. Be prepared for the weather though! It was HOT during our tour and while the van was air conditioned, it was not really strong enough to alleviate most of the heat. Still 100% worth it though even if it’s hot.

Such an easy way to take in the beauty of the Duoro Valley - we really enjoyed the chance to let others take care of the details while we got to enjoy them. Good information about port wines without having to take a long lodge tour. It was interesting to sample at both a large vineyard & a very small one, & lunch was very nice. And who wouldn't like a relaxing cruise along this river? So beautiful. The communication prior to departing was great (check your emails & meet at McDonalds!) & by the time we returned we felt like our guide & driver were our old friends - thank you Caterina & Rui!

This was a great tour. I highly highly recommend it if you have a free day while in Porto. They pick you up on time in a nice AC Wifi van. The tour guide wade funny and accommodating for those with mobility issues. They give two two very different wineries to see which is good. The lunch is not an ordinary lunch. It’s a three course meal with unlimited wine. It was amazing! Only caution it is very hot. The tour makes it as cool as possible but just to be aware when traveling. We would do it again!

This was one of the best tours I have done. Our guide Delfina was amazing and her knowledge and information she shared was invaluable. I would highly recommend this to anyone that would like to explore the Duoro river valley.. It is great value for money and gives you a great oversight of what this region has to offer.

We got picked up at around 8:30AM and headed straight for the Douro Valley. Along the way, Milena told us about some history and the difference between a port wine and a table wine. We then had our first winery tour and tasting. We then had a short coffee break before the boat cruise which had amazing views. Lunch was served at a second winery. Food was amazing! Options for everyone was available. More tastings were had after lunch along with a lesson on how to tell the difference between 10, 20, and 30 year old ports. The drive back to Porto was relaxing - I’ll admit I had a small snooze. Overall, this was an amazing experience. The views are immaculate! 1 very important tip is to remember that the Douro Valley has a microclimate - this means it is roughly 10 degrees hotter than it is in Porto! Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and a sun hat to stay cool. Comfortable shoes are also important, however there isn’t a crazy amount of walking.

This tour is a must if you have few days to spend in Porto. Pedro is an excellent guide, that will help you discover the Douro Valley in the most beautiful way- the visit at the Pacheca, the lunch, the boat ride with Paulo and the visit at Croft winery are all of them mixed with joy and overwhelming beauty. It all ends nicely with a stop to a point from above, from where you can get amazing pictures to remember you of the day.

Our guide, Iasmin, was very attentive, kind and sweet, and took care of the group at all times. Even though our bus had to be changed on our way to the vineyards, the process took around 5 minutes and it didn't delay us on our journey. The vineyards were both beautiful and the tour there was very informative. The tasting of the Porto wines was also very good. The boat part, however, was mediocre, more like a floating peak hour urban bus that went 3 km upstream and then returned. It was so packed we couldn't even move from the seats to take a picture. That part should be changed. Our group was over 30 people, too, but once we got to the boat it was like 5 groups joining the boat.

We had Paulo Gonçalves as our guide. This was the BEST tour that we had in Portugal. I would do it again if I get the chance. Your spending your money well on this tour. The view was amazing and the first winery we visited was so sweet and wonderful. We got to taste plenty wines and they gave us an amazing lunch with the options of extra and wine. We then got to see a bigger winery. We got to go on a nice boat ride after which was must needed after all that wine. Our tour guide was very kind, funny and also offered us any advice we needed. I would definitely recommend this tour.

My fiancé and I had a fantastic time on this wine tour. Our guide, Delfina, was hilarious, knowledgeable about the Douro valley, and an incredible person to have lead our journey. Our driver was also great. He was timely and very professional. We thoroughly enjoyed the boat cruise but I would say that a large portion of it was directly in the sun, so it would be advisable to tell customers to bring sunscreen or a hat in the future so everyone is aware. The port tasting portion of the trip was also enjoyable and we learned a lot from the vineyard guides. Also, definitely want to note that the food at The River delicious and the meal portions were decent. We all enjoyed a three course meal along with unlimited red or white wine. The entire journey was around 10 hours but definitely worth checking out!

We spent a week in Madrid and Porto and this was by far our favorite day! Ivo was the perfect guide - knowledgeable (actually from Douro Valley), funny and talked just the right amount (amazing English btw) The day had everything - wine, food, boat ride and the most BEAUTIFUL scenery. Perfect day trip from Porto. Thanks again!!

This was the most amazing experience! Best tour I have ever been on. The scenery, the history, the wine, and the food were all fantastic and our guide Ivo made it all come together smoothly. Ivo Sousa was my guide. I was traveling solo and everyone made me welcome and comfortable. I was in a smaller group of 8 which made the experience even more intimate. I highly recommend this activity. Delfina, our guide shared a lot of precious information about the region and Port wine. I really liked her. We visited a small vineyard (which I preferred because the guide gave us a lot of information and took his time to explain to us how they make the wine). We then visited a bigger vineyard (Croft). I didn’t love it as much because the visit felt rushed. However, I appreciated the tasting. I highly suggest you bring light clothes and water bottles as it can be very hot in the Douro Valley!

Ivo was very friendly and tried to make us comfortable even if there are complaints from other passengers regarding the mic making a sound when not in use. The tour itself was great, the view amazing as well as the experience of tasting different wines and learning how dedicated the people of the wineries. Lunch was good too and the staff of The River was accommodating too. Overall I would recommend this tour! Oh and Andrea the driver was also kind to give us free bottled water.

My friends and I did this tour to celebrate my birthday, and our tour guide, Milena, and winery managers definitely helped make it an experience to remember! (definitely make sure to ask about the city of Amarente lolol) Milena made sure we had breakfast/snack/viewpoint stops and helped to explain the history and other information as we passed by them. There was only 2 port tastings at the first winery but at lunch the wine was definitely more unlimited there. Views were gorgeous and I highly recommend!

Very enjoyable day on the Douro. Everything planned, and all went off without a hitch. Excellent guide (Milena) and excellent driver (John). We enjoyed the tours and tastings at both wineries plus a very enjoyable cruise on the Douro with two more ports (tastings, not docks) with Paulo. Well worth every euro.

Our bus driver Pedro is from the area and had great insight into the valley. He agreed that full boat ride from Porto misses out on hilltop views and not much to see for first hour. Long bus ride with 40 people but we all interacted well with guide Caterina. excellent port stops at large and family operations. Full lunch with wine and more wine at river walk was great.
