Reviews
Juliana
Joe was friendly, kind and an amazing story teller. He knew how to keep the audience captivated and together, since it was a walking tour, and he even made telling ghost / vampire stories funny. The only thing I would do differently is end with Dracula and then with his amazing summary linking all the stories to present day. In any case, it was really great and for those who like to be told stories, this was definitely a hit! It was a unique activity on our itinerary.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Dracula's castle near Budapest?
While Dracula is most famously linked to Bran Castle in Romania, Budapest has its own eerie version. The Vajdahunyad Castle in Budapest served as Dracula’s castle in the 2013–2014 TV series Dracula. This striking structure combines Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles, creating a mystical, cinematic backdrop—perfect for Dracula-themed filming, though not tied to the real historical figure.
Is Dracula buried in Budapest?
According to a plaque in the Labyrinth under Buda Castle, a legend claims that Dracula died and was buried there—though his head was taken elsewhere. Most historians consider this to be just a myth, likely added for dramatic effect and tourist intrigue. There’s no concrete evidence connecting Vlad the Impaler to Budapest in this way.
Where was Dracula imprisoned in Budapest?
The Labyrinth of Buda Castle is often cited as the place where Vlad the Impaler (the historical Dracula) was allegedly held captive during the 15th century. While records suggest he was indeed imprisoned by the Hungarian king, the exact location remains debated. The Buda Labyrinth plays up this legend with dramatic exhibits and moody lighting.
Is Dracula from Hungary or Romania?
Dracula, as imagined by Bram Stoker, is a fictional vampire from Transylvania—a region that is part of present-day Romania. The character was inspired in part by Vlad the Impaler, a 15th-century ruler of Wallachia (also in modern Romania), known for his brutal methods. While he had connections to the Hungarian court, Vlad was not Hungarian by origin.
