What to expect:

Discover one of the world's most famous squares: San Marco. Your guide will narrate the rich history of the monuments at the Doge’s Palace, where the Doge and the highest politicians lived and ruled the ancient republic. See the front of the Basilica and learn about its nickname the 'Golden Church.'

Go through Calli and Campi, the narrow Venetian streets and squares. Find hidden artistic jewels at Santa Maria Formosa Square or the SS. Giovanni and Paolo Church with a spectacular façade, known as the Pantheon of Venice. See the Malibran Theatre, which was the house of the legendary Marco Polo.

Climb to the Rialto Bridge, the symbol of the city, to see the traditional markets which were once the center of Europe's commercial market.

Surprisingly, I was the only one who had booked a German-speaking tour... and ended up with a 1:1 tour, actually a great thing, unfortunately I had the impression that the tour guide found it a bit tedious that I took a lot of photos wanted and stopped again and again... for them, of course, it wasn't an "individual tour". I found the quarters great, including the early start time at 9 a.m.

The guide was very competent and mainly reported on the difficulties of the local Venetians. We were frightened by the decline in the number of residents reported in Venice (about 100,000 in 1960, today 49,000) and the frightening takeover of shops and restaurants by the Chinese.
