It was an exciting adventure. It's fun to observe the sea and flying through waves on a fast boat. After quite a while, we found dolphins and interacted with them. It was more beautiful than I thought before. We took many good and close pictures of the dolphins. Well done to the captain at that point. An experience I can recommend to anybody.

What an unforgettable experience! We hiked, climbed, cliff jumped, swam, and zip lined along the beautiful limestone coast. Francisco and Marcel were fantastic guides who shared fun facts along the way and made sure we were comfortable and safe. We also took a break for water and ate a traditional Portuguese snack, farinha torrada. You take a boat to the harbor at the end, so you don't come back the way you came! Coasteering is a physically demanding activity, but if you're up for the challenge, it is SO worth it. Bring a swimsuit, close-toed shoes, board shorts, towel, and a change of clothes. Changing rooms are available and they also safely store your belongings in the office. Helpful tips: wear comfortable shoes that fit well - there's a lot of rocky terrain. Buy cushioned soles (like Dr. Scholl's Air-Pillo insoles) to put in your shoes. If you usually wear glasses, they recommend not wearing them for coasteering (you'll be swimming and jumping into the ocean), so plan accordingly.

The excursion went very well, the staff on board very friendly. However, I have reservations about the organization at the dock, where the meeting point is not very clear, and having to look for a paper ticket to board edge seems silly to me as we have an e-ticket with QR code.

We were on the speedboat so no open bar, but they provide coats and lifejackets, which was great! Bare in mind the ticket place does not open until 10am so wait outside the front of the white building til you can go in, and go to the toilet before as it costs money here - and you will be on the boat for 2+ hours! We saw big groups of dolphins within the first hour and followed them, and the guides were nice with explaining facts about them / Lisbon and gave us a tour of the key sights on the journey back. It was definitely good value for money - an amazing experience! Highly recommend to do.

Frequently Asked Questions
How can I make the most of a short visit to Lisbon?
The smartest approach is to mix perspectives. A guided walk through Alfama's narrow alleys and Belém's monumental waterfront covers the essential history at street level, while a Tagus River excursion reveals the city's full panorama from the water — Belém Tower, the 25 de Abril Bridge, and Commerce Square all look different from a boat. Pairing the two in a single day gives you a surprisingly complete picture of the city.
Group excursions or private — which works better in Lisbon?
Group excursions are budget-friendly and a nice way to share the experience with other travellers. Private options let you control the rhythm — linger where you want, skip what doesn't interest you, and get undivided attention from your guide. If you're travelling with family, marking an anniversary, or simply prefer not to follow someone else's schedule, private is the way to go.
How should I dress for excursions in Lisbon?
Sturdy shoes with decent grip matter more here than in most cities — Lisbon's hills and polished cobblestones are no joke, especially in the Alfama and Bairro Alto districts. Light layers handle the temperature swings between shaded lanes and sunny miradouros. For evening sailboat excursions or dinner on the water, smart-casual strikes the right note. Sunscreen belongs in your bag almost year-round.
What do Lisbon tours typically include in the price?
Walking excursions come with a licensed local guide. River cruises cover the boat trip and usually a welcome drink or snack. Food and wine experiences include every tasting stop on the route. Day trips handle all transport. Admission to individual attractions is listed clearly where it applies — the "What's Included" breakdown on each excursion page spells out exactly what you're paying for.
Should I book Lisbon tour in advance or wait until I arrive?
Booking ahead is worth it, especially between May and October when Lisbon is at its busiest. Sunset sailing trips, dolphin watching excursions, and private boat tours tend to fill up first. If your schedule is uncertain, the free cancellation window on most bookings gives you room to adjust. For spontaneous plans, check live availability — midweek departures and morning time slots are your best bet for last-minute spots.
Can I get a refund if my plans change?
Most Lisbon activities on Alle Travel can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before departure, with a full refund to your original payment method. This makes it easy to lock in popular experiences without risk. A handful of special or seasonal offerings may carry different terms, so it's always worth glancing at the cancellation conditions on the booking page.
Is it possible to build a full-day itinerary from several different excursions?
It's actually the recommended way to experience Lisbon. A morning walking excursion through the historic centre pairs naturally with an afternoon trip to Sintra or the Arrábida coastline, and an evening sunset sail on the Tagus ties the whole day together beautifully. The scheduling is flexible enough that you can layer experiences without them overlapping.
What does a local guide actually add to the experience?
Context, mostly — and that's what turns a nice walk into something you remember. A guide explains why a crumbling façade in Alfama matters, steers you to a pastelaria that tourists haven't discovered yet, or times your Tagus cruise so the light hits the monuments just right. On food excursions, they connect each dish to a tradition. You see the same city, but you understand it differently.
Which months are best for Lisbon tours?
Every season has its appeal. Late spring and early autumn — roughly April through June and September through October — bring warm days, golden light, and comfortable crowds, making them ideal for both walking and water-based excursions. High summer is peak season with the longest evenings and hottest weather, perfect for sailing and beach day trips, though demand is highest. Winter stays mild and uncrowded, with lower prices and an unhurried local atmosphere that suits food tours, wine tastings, and cultural outings.
Can I bring children on Lisbon excursion?
Most daytime experiences welcome families. River cruises, amphibious tours, and dolphin watching trips are reliably popular with younger travellers. Walking excursions suit older children comfortable with hills and cobblestones. Evening sailboat outings with cocktails are designed with adults in mind, even where there's no formal age limit. Age policies and child pricing are listed on each excursion page — check before you book.
What safety precautions are taken on Lisbon activities?
All operators comply with Portuguese and EU safety standards. Boats carry mandatory life-saving equipment and crews brief passengers before setting off — sailings may be postponed in adverse weather conditions. Walking excursions follow pedestrian-friendly routes, and guides know how to navigate Lisbon's steep terrain safely with a group. Private transfers use licensed and insured vehicles with professional drivers. If you have mobility limitations or health considerations, the "Important Info" section on each excursion page flags relevant accessibility details.
