We spent half a day with Péter Balogh, who informed us very competently about the history and the individual sights of the city. But we would also like to emphasize that Péter speaks excellent German and was therefore able to tell one or the other anecdote in a very humorous way. So: If you want to get to know Budapest, in German, through a likeable contemporary, you should come back to Péter...

Eva our guide is a wonderful woman. The tour was amazing reach of so many informations she provided us that we wanted to write everything down. She is really like the perfect guide should be. Gentle, kind, emphatic, full of knowledge about the history and not only. It was a great experience thanks to her. We are really satisfied. Thank you Eva!

The tour is great! We took the evening tour and enjoyed the buildings at night. There is an audio guide included in the price in many languages (Greek, too) which gives you very interesting information about the city, not the one you can find in any guide, but the details you have to search for. I would recommend you do the cruise at the beginning of your visit in Budapest so that you get to know the city. The staff is very friendly and the drinks offered make the one-hour cruise more enjoyable.

Our guide was just great and we had an unforgettable day. Since we were traveling with 9 people, including two pairs of grandparents, we got a bit off schedule and the guide was so nice and accompanied us through the city for over 11/2 hours longer than originally thought. The additional effort was absolutely limited, so that we saw everything, could go at our own pace and spent a great day together. She showed us all the important sights, showed us little secrets and hidden corners, paused with us in a beautiful coffee and then said goodbye to us in the castle district to a very tasty and inexpensive eatery.

Quite good, I recommend it for your first day in Budapest to see a bit of the whole city and stop where you want but for only 1 day the journey is always the same so for 2 days it's not very useful. The entire walk without stopping is 1h30, you have an audio guide in all languages and a map in paper version. The boat trip was good but too many people on the boat, we weren't able to get on the top of the boat which was a real shame

Excellent experience, very kind, helpful and prepared guide. He accompanied us to the most interesting points of the city and gave us a brief explanation for each one. The bikes were of good quality, worked well, although the seat was a little hard considering the length of the tour. Price a little high, still highly recommended.

We have only had great experiences with city tours with bike tours - ideal for getting an overview and basic information. We had Thomas as a German-speaking guide and it was exciting, informative and fun. The wooden e-bikes were great, the support was always right on all inclines. Clear recommendation!

Husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Ester. She was quite knowledgeable, with detailed information (but not too much so as to overwhelm us). Often guides pack so much info into tours, we don’t remember much at all, but Ester had the perfect amount of information so we could actually retain what we were learning. She was wonderfully patient with taking pictures and attentive to safety (especially considering we had a novice on our tour). Very professional but accessible. The bikes were high quality, well-maintained and easy to ride. Helmets are provided, though optional. Highly recommend the tour - and Ester.

Gellért Baths is renowned for its stunning Art Nouveau architecture. The thermal baths within the complex are adorned with mosaic tiles, and the principal hall boasts an impressive gallery with a glass roof constructed in the Art Nouveau style. Unique to the Gellért Baths in Budapest is its gender-segregated large pool situated in an exquisitely ornate room. Additionally, the spa features an open-air wave pool, setting it apart from other thermal baths in the city. Visitors to Gellért Baths can also indulge in unisex massages, where going topless during the treatment is a requirement. Additionally, the baths are part of the renowned Gellért Hotel in Buda, offering guests an unparalleled experience in one of the finest spa hotels in the city.

What are the different types of pools at Gellért Baths?

Gellért Baths houses a diverse array of pools. There are eight thermal pools, with water temperatures fluctuating between 21°C to 40°C, embellished with mosaic tiles and acclaimed for their therapeutic benefits. The main lap pool, adorned with a domed stained-glass roof and intricate roman columns, stands as the first attraction upon entering. Unique to Gellért are the famed blue-tiled thermal baths showcasing Art Nouveau designs and intricate details such as carved cherubs. The outdoor wave pool stands out due to its rare feature amongst Budapest thermal baths. Additionally, there are two effervescent bath sections and a sitting pool equipped with deluxe amenities.

How long can I stay at Gellért Baths with my ticket?

With a full-day ticket to Gellért Baths, visitors have the liberty to stay throughout any hours of operation, provided the facilities remain open. The spa operates from 6 am to 8 pm daily, encompassing national and bank holidays. Guests can arrive anytime between 6 am and 6 pm, enjoying the pools until 7.45 pm with their full-day ticket. Those arriving post 6 pm must purchase tickets at the venue using cash. While there's no fixed check-in time, no refunds are offered for full-day tickets if visitors opt for shorter stays.

Can I book massages at Gellért Baths, and are they included in the ticket price?

Yes, massages can be reserved at Gellért Baths, but they are not encompassed within the ticket price. A distinct massage package, inclusive of a fast-track bath ticket, must be acquired to avail of the massage services. Gellért Spa offers an assortment of massages, ranging from Swedish to Thai and aroma massages, with durations varying from 20 to 60 minutes. It's feasible to pre-book massages in advance online or obtain them onsite based on availability. Early bookings are advisable, particularly during high-traffic hours and weekends. Notably, if guests fail to check in at least 40 minutes before their scheduled refreshing massage, it gets automatically canceled without a refund option.

What are the opening hours of Gellért Baths?

Gellért Baths welcomes visitors seven days a week, from Monday through Sunday. The operational hours span from 9 am until 7 pm. While the pool area closes by 6.40 pm, saunas and steam chambers are functional from 10 am to 6 pm. With full-day tickets, visitors can linger in the pools up until 7.45 pm. Contrary to common assumptions, Gellért Baths does not offer specific discounts for students or seniors. Irrespective of age, all guests, including those above two years, are levied the standard ticket fee. Nonetheless, the Budapest Cards grant a 20% markdown at other spa baths in Budapest, encompassing the Lukacs Thermal Bath. Gellért Spa provides discounted rates on massage treatments if the massage room is shared. Group discounts, contingent on the group size, can also be availed, accelerating the entry process and enhancing the overall experience.

What is the best time to visit Gellért Baths to avoid crowds?

To evade crowds at Gellért Baths, it's optimal to visit early in the morning, particularly on a weekday. Arriving right at the opening time of 9 am ensures a serene experience. Typically, weekdays are less congested compared to weekends. Peak hours, between 10:30 am and 4 pm, are the most bustling, especially during the summer and on weekends. Hence, choosing off-peak times, particularly the first or last operational hours, is advised. Furthermore, visiting during off-peak tourist seasons, specifically the colder months, offers a more tranquil environment.

What should I bring to Gellért Baths?

Guests visiting Gellért Baths should ideally bring:

  • Swimwear: Swim trunks for men and one- or two-piece swimsuits for women. Avoid long swimwear, like surfer-style shorts.

  • Towels: Although rentals are available, bringing your own ensures personal comfort.

  • Flip-flops: Essential for navigating wet areas.

  • Shampoo and Shower gel: Even though showers are equipped with soap, personal products can enhance the experience.

  • A cap: Necessary for certain pools.

  • Lockable bag or backpack: Stowing personal items in lockers, which need a 100 HUF or 1 EUR coin as deposit.

  • Bottled water: Staying hydrated is crucial, especially during prolonged baths.

Are children allowed in Gellért Baths?
